Debt Diet Loser

Well, I swayed a little from the debt Diet, but I am still trying. I made a Menu plan last week and stuck to it mostly on the shopping. We did go as a family to eat Indian for Valentine's Day. I loaded up on deals and staples so I started stockpiling but was way off budget. i hope to change this from now on out. I will really start using this blog, and change my lifestyle. I have seen the light.

Debt Diet

My Rules

  1. No conveniance shopping..(drinks in the check out), drive thru snacks, vending machine snacks etc..
  2. Grocery Shopping must be from my List and must be from a Menu Plan.
  3. No eating out, and food for playgroups and Bunco must be made.
  4. No Happy Hour or drinking at a Bar, no movies, etc.
  5. Valentines has to be home made. For both the kids and hubby.

My Excpetions

  1. Haircut- I haven't had one since November and I can't make it until March.
  2. Soccer- I signed the boys up for Soccer so anything they might need for this, I will have to buy.
  3. Bunco- I am committed to this- so that 10$ is allotted for. I will hopefully find another creative way for other Mom's Night Outs. I will make my dish from scratch, however.
  4. Shower- I am cohosting a shower and as great as these girls are they don't want me to make a cake. They want a pretty one with blue booties.
  5. Goody Bags for kids class. I am assigned Goody Bags for the kids Valentines Party so I will have to make an exception for that. I will see how well I can do.

When Meal Plans Go Wrong

So we all know that Meal Plans save money and time. However, I realized that sometimes you need to have flexibility built in. For example, this week our Family came down with the stomach Flu. When this happened we had the following items on our Meal Plan, Chili, Indian, Fajitas, and Sloppy Joes. Which one of these would you like to have with an upset stomach. I didn't have any food I might wasn't to eat. So, in my fridge it sits (I am praying we will all get through this before it goes bad). We have spent too much money and gas going to get whatever we think might sound appealling. I think for cold and Flu season it is good to have an emergency box. It should contain at lest Applesauce, Jello, Gatorade, Crackers and Chicken Noodle Soup. Have any other suggestions on what should go into my emergency box?
